Dining & Bars

The hotel offers Wild Honey St James, a Michelin-starred restaurant serving modern European dishes with seasonal local ingredients. St James Bar is an iconic cocktail destination with an extensive cocktail and small plates menu. The Rose Lounge serves a Phantom of the Opera themed afternoon tea with handmade delicacies and original theatre costumes on display.

Rooms & Design

All 256 bedrooms were redesigned in 2019 by French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, inspired by 1960s London. Each room includes a Sofitel MyBed, Diptyque toiletries, a flat-screen TV, and a Nespresso coffee machine. Some rooms offer views over Pall Mall or the inner courtyard.

Spa & Wellness

The Sofitel So SPA operates over three floors and provides luxury spa treatments in a restored historic bank building. Facilities include a hammam, hot tub, and spa lounge with relaxation area. The fitness center is equipped with Technogym machines and offers coconut water and protein balls for guests.

Location & Building

The hotel occupies a beautifully preserved neoclassical building on the corner of Pall Mall and Waterloo Place in St James's. It is a 15-minute walk from Buckingham Palace and 5 minutes from Piccadilly Circus and Charing Cross Station. St James's Park is 320 metres from the hotel, and the West End theatre district is around the corner.

An Uneven Experience

uninspiring view petty charge

The room faced an uninspiring view of an adjacent building. I expected better for the price I paid. the housekeeping closet next to my room created disruptive noise at times. I found the charge for a local call petty. It left a sour note considering the overall cost of my stay.

overall an ok experience.

central location super clean rooms cocktail drinks uninspiring view expensive breakfast breakfast buffet

the location is very central. it is near many important landmarks, i found everything accessible. the rooms were super clean and the cleaning staff are real pros. they left everything sparkling each day. i also found the bar professionals know their drinks. i really liked trying different cocktails.

my room faced a back side area. the view from the room was not inspiring at all. the breakfast was expensive. i ended up paying a lot more than i expected for the breakfast buffet with some extra dishes.

The afternoon tea in The Rose Lounge was a great experience. The food tasted fresh and was presented well. The staff were helpful and took care of our needs quickly.

The entrance team was not polite. They repeatedly asked me to move away while I was waiting. I felt unwelcomed and had to leave the lobby area
